Difference between spyware and ransomware

The major problem with the Internet usage, especially Wi-Fi, is that the computers get infected with malware, spyware, ransomware etc. Even though all these infections are ways of hacking and stealing information, there are some minor differences between them.

Spyware is a program that comes attached with free software when downloaded from the internet. This spyware tracks the personal details and other browsing information of the user, which can also allow some other software to be installed in the device.

Difference between spyware and ransomware
Common ways of sending spyware is through attaching a link in an email.

Ransomware can alter usage of the device or encrypt the data on the device. This makes it difficult to use the device partially or fully. Common ways of sending a user to the victim are through files that are attached to emails and are tempting to be downloaded. While some ransomware attacks are easy to identify and remove, some ransomware attackers demand money in order to release the hacked device.

The difference between spyware and ransomware is that spyware are used to grab personal information from a victim, while ransomware are used to hold a device or data hostage. All spyware are not ransomware. The viable solution for spyware is the installation of an antivirus software that helps in protecting the device from security threats.
